Planning a public consultation in the NHS

This learning session takes participants through the preparatory steps needed to give your NHS consultation the best chance of succeeding.

Participants explore real-life scenarios to map out the tasks, time and resources that are needed to run a public consultation that meets legal and regulatory requirements.

At the end of the session, participants will:
  • Understand the purpose of a public consultation and the process required to plan one successfully.
  • Be familiar with best practice approaches to planning and preparing for a public consultation.
  • Be clear on the legal and regulatory requirements for NHS organisations planning a public consultation.
  • Have a strong understanding of the range and roles of stakeholders in a public consultation and how to involve them effectively.
